Frequently Asked Questions
1What is injected?
The ingredients in your IV will be determined following your first assessment. Your IV will include vitamins and minerals, but may also include glutathione, n-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) and other amino acids.
2Why is glutathione given via IV (intravenously) and not pills?
Glutathione is poorly absorbed orally through most glutathione pills where is appears to be inactivated by peptidases in the gut. It is best given directly into the blood as an IV (intravenous) drip. Oral precursors to glutathione can be given to support IV glutathione or as maintenance once desired treatment goal is achieved.
3Why not take vitamin C as pills instead of IV (intravenous)?
It is true that vitamin C can be absorbed as a pill, however, higher doses cannot be achieved with pills. Doses greater than 2000 mg daily can significantly increase the risk of adverse effects such as osmotic diarrhea and gastrointestinal upset. Via IV, doses of vitamin C can reach 25,000-100,00 mg.
4Is there an age limit to enjoying the benefits of IV Therapy?
You need to be over 18 years old to have an IV administered at IV Clinique Medical. Apart from this nominal restriction, the benefits of a strengthened immune and nervous system, anti-aging and hydration are in fact of greater use to clients over 30.
5What is the catch to IV therapy and Glutathione?
IV therapy is a simple, streamlined, transparent process. Everything happens in front of the client. No anesthetic drug is used and thus you stay alert and awake, reading books, watching movies or simply relaxing at our plush clinic. The only Glutathione caveat has to do with extended exposure to the sun. Since the production of Eumelanin is inhibited, clients are requested to use a sunscreen lotion of appropriate SPF well before stepping out.
6Will my friends notice the difference after my IV?
Yes and no! Yes, your friends will compliment you on your youthful appearance and your glowing complexion. No, they will not be struck by the suddenness of the transformation. It will be a gradual blooming that will leave them impressed but not suspicious.
7Are there REALLY no negative side effects to the process?
Here is the thing: your body also produces all the compounds that are injected into your bloodstream. It is not asked to grapple with alien toxins and adjust to their presence. With age, the concentration of much needed vitamins and minerals starts to plummet. Through IV therapy, deficiencies and imbalances are eliminated resulting in golden pay offs like more energy, improved hair and nail growth, increased strength, stronger immunity, improved fertility and obviously skin brightening.
8How long does the effect of a Glutathione IV last?
Once your complexion has taken on the fair rosy cast of a successful Glutathione IV, the effect lasts for a very long time. Since the change is from the inside out, “top-ups” are not required as frequently. Generally we recommend IVs after 3 to 6 months.
9Is any special prep needed before an IV session?
Not really. We request clients to drop by within 4 hours of having taken a substantial meal. In some cases we may prescribe oral precursors to accelerate the treatment.
10The million-dollar question: How painful is IV therapy?
There will be initial discomfort, more like s slight pinch. But clients get over it very soon. On the pain scale the insertion of the catheter ranks above a waxing session and below the inking of a tattoo.
